NEWS: 5 Seconds of Summer win Best Lyric Video VMA award

5SOS VMAS5 Seconds of Summer have won their first ever MTV VMA award in the Best Lyric Video category for Don’t Stop.

The Australian pop-punkers from Sydney were up for two nominations at the awards ceremony last night including the MTV Artist To Watch category, which was won by American girl band Fifth Harmony.

Their lyric video for Don’t Stop, the second single from their debut self-titled album, was up against serious competition with major artists including Katy Perry and Demi Lovato.

The boys took to Twitter to thank their fans with Calum Hood, the bassist for the band said: “You guys won the VMA Best Lyric Video for us!! Thank you thank you thank you!!!”

5SOS were also one of the acts to play at the ceremony, performing their third single Amnesia, which was written by the Madden Brothers.
