With Ghosts have been on our radar for a while now and we have been eagerly awaiting some new material after catching the band at a couple of shows. They’ve supported the likes of Decade, Moose Blood and Gnarwolves to name a few and even have some headline dates of their own coming up (which you can see at the bottom) to help push the release of their new EP Endings. On stage we’ve felt that their was…something missing to really make the performance stand out, however this is our first taste of the Swindon 4 piece on record.

‘Sorry I’m Not Sorry’ kicks off with a mid tempo and discordant opening before they fuel the fire to up the pace through an intriguing verse section. Vocalist and guitarist Nathan Gregory uses his range to create some really interesting and catchy vocal lines and melodies, they compliment the overall feel of the track as they race through the song with aplomb. A confident start here. ‘Bury Me’ is a more laid back track with soft guitars and a high vocal pattern to pull you into it’s opening stages which leads into a well penned and constructed chorus. The lyrics at times are cliche and straight forward but in the choruses Nathan really has a knack to make you listen in carefully to whats being said which adds a strong layer to an already infectious section.

‘Strangers’ builds and explodes into life with guitarist Louis Lambourne stamping his input and influence on this EP with one of many great lead lines. The tracks follow the usual formula of verse/chorus/verse/chorus/bridge/chorus which can get tedious and almost at times feel a little lazy. The production and mixing is spot on as the different influences have clarity and sound bright throughout. ‘Just A Ghost’ moves along with a stomping beat from drummer Josh Rankin in the songs choruses and the guitar leads ebb and flow through the rhythm. There’s gang backing vocals towards the songs climax that really give it a new life and make the vibe of the song feel emphatic. It’s a good start from the lads who have had regional and national airplay already, a two page spread in Discovered Magazine and even appeared in the Local Heroes section in none other than Kerrang magazine! Not bad for a relatively young band from Swindon. Check out the bands tour dates below and tell your friends about With Ghosts.
