Slam Dunk Festival is not only one of our favourite events of the festival season, it also showcases some of the best new and established bands out there, creating a big lovely music vibe that stretches from the sweaty underbelly of Leeds Union to the fresh air of SD South.
To make it easier for you to pick between those often-conflicting stage splits, we’ve compiled a list of 6 bands to watch at Slam Dunk.
Cambridge five piece, Mallory Knox have proved over the past five years that they are more than pretty faces.
The alternative rockers will be playing the Main Stage under headliner All American Rejects and are guaranteed to cause an frenzy with their epic songs, slamming guitars and invigorating beats. With their debut album, Signals, only last year, they are an exciting band to watch; having done the rounds playing festivals from Download to Reading, they are a real band of perseverance, talent and gut-punching melodies.

Four piece rock band Canterbury are more than a pair of skinny jeans, cute smiles and floppy hair styles.
Staggering onto Main Stage early on in the lineup, they won’t just be a mere warm up act as you rub the sleep from your unbelieving eyes, but they will wake and bake you with their glorified riffs, humbling drum fills and beautiful, beautiful voices. Veins will be popping, pits will be sweating and girls will be screaming as these four pretty posh boys show let loose.
Having met at college, they are more than another over rated, underperforming band. They are best mates, and it just so happens that they want to be yours too.
Despite the release of the their latest album ‘Dark Days’ earlier this year, the boys stay true to their roots and play songs off their popular ‘Thankyou’ record; songs that originally made fans fall head over converse in love with them. You can still purchase ‘Dark Days’ on iTunes here – Dark Days – Canterbury
The Atticus Stage this Slam Dunk festival will see famous five piece Kids In Glass Houses headlining.
Despite announcing their separation earlier this year, these Welsh lads continue to soldier on with their fierce performances, and aren’t going to stop any time soon as they take a stop at Slam Dunk before they embark on their Farewell Tour this October, and will be playing their debut album ‘Smart Casual’ in it’s entirety. Check out our review of their latest offering ‘Peace’ here.
Having performed at a range of festivals, including Reading & Leeds and Sonisphere, KIGH are no stranger to being the life and soul of the party, because no doubt you guys will all be ‘slamming drunk’ by then, but the boys will still make it a night to remember even if you can’t remember anything else.
With Verses’ debut album ‘Feel It Faster’ about to be released, the Brighton four piece will be aiming to make a massive impression at Slam Dunk 2014.
As one of the rising bands throughout 2014, Verses will bring their mix of evocative rock and their punchy pop-rock chorus’ to the Slam Dunk stage.
Verses are going nowhere but up at the moment which makes them one of the bands to definitely check out at this years’ Slam Dunk festival.
Illinois pop-punkers Real Friends are the archetypal pop-punk band and definitely one to catch at Slam Dunk 2014. With the five-pieces’ debut album ‘Maybe This Place Is The Same And We’re Just Changing’ coming out in the summer and following all of their momentum from their massive UK tour in May, Real Friends are surely going to blow people away with their pop-punk attitude and their driving guitar riffs. And with the addition of Dan Lampton’s vocals added to the mix, powering their Wonder Years-like vocals and their raw, honest lyrics across, Real Friends stand out from the crowd of being just another ordinary pop-punk band
All American Rejects
Oklahoma rockers All American Rejects are gracing the Main Stage with their all mighty presence and should not be missed.
After releasing their 2012 album Kids in the Street, the four piece went on their US Shaking Off The Rust tour and even brought a taster of it over here when they supported Blink 182. With classic hits such as Dirty Little Secret, Gives You Hell and Move Along up their sleeves, it’s no telling what their set will be made up of. But we are pretty sure with their incredible energy and charisma, they are going to be an incredible end to an outstanding lineup!
